I wanted to be able to keep track of upcoming birthdays. In the past, Facebook was up to the task, but since no one is using that anymore I had to look elsewhere. A possible solution would be to simply add all (important) birthdays to my digital calendar - but I also didn't want my calendar to be flooded. An unobtrusive Rainmeter skin on my desktop seemed ideal!
I exported the birthdays from my Facebook friends to a CSV file using the Birthday Calendar Exporter extension for Google Chrome. The Rainmeter skin shows all birthdays within the next 3 days from the dataset. This value can be changed by updating the the DAYS_FORWARD constant in the lua script file. The height of the skin can be changed by updating the #height# value in the variables section of the ini file.
